Queen Of Desire winning the Listed Lansdown Stakes marks a huge day for Varian Stable as she becomes the 100th Stakes winner for her handler Roger Varian.

It was seven years ago that Beyond Desire won the Listed Lansdown Stakes at Bath for Varian Stable and now her daughter, Queen Of Desire, becomes the yard's 100th Stakes winner when winning the very same race for her owner/breeder Steve Parkin. She didn't have the easiest of runs under Jack Mitchell, but she muscled her way to the front and wasn't for passing in the closing stages, eventually passing the post a head in front. She is a wonderfully consistent filly winning four of her eight starts and thanks to today's triumph she has now earned herself capital black type as her mother did all those years ago.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our loyal and supportive owners who have made this achievement possible. I would also like to thank my incredibly hard working team at home who work tirelessly to produce their horses in the best possible condition. (Roger Varian)

Now entering his ninth season, Roger has trained 737 winners, 100 of which have been in Stakes races and 15 at the highest level. So far this season he has sent out 14 winners at a 25% strike rate. Let's hope that this fine run of form can continue towards the all important Classics which are now just around the corner.
