A two and a quarter-length winner of a Newbury fillies’ novice last month, Yourtimeisnow headed into this £46,000 prize with an official rating of 89, but she left that form well behind when making all up the far-side rail under Andrea Atzeni, repelling the late challenge of the Michael Bell-trained Lady Arian by half a length following a protracted duel inside the final furlong.

A 120,000 guineas purchase at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Yourtimeisnow is from the first-crop of high-class miler Charm Spirit and she is out of the Gone West mare Maid For Winning, making her a half-sister to the classy handicapper Hors De Combat and from the further family of US Grade 1 winner Stroll.

Earlier in the afternoon, San Donato put the disappointment of his Royal Ascot run behind him when producing a strong-travelling display in a warm race of its kind under David Egan, edging left inside the final quarter mile but always having enough in the tank to fend off recent Carlisle scorer Hello Youmzain by a short-head, with the front two pulling a length clear of talented colts Wise Counsel and Stakeholder in third and fourth.

A 500,000 guineas son of Lope de Vega, San Donato inherits plenty of natural pace from the speedy bottom-half of his pedigree, with him being out of the Group-placed juvenile sprinter Boston Rocker and from the further family of G2 Flying Childers winner Superstar Leo, and while he shapes like he would be fine racing over seven furlongs once again, that looks by no means a necessity at this stage of his career.

Roger said: “I am delighted the two juveniles could win for Sheikh Mohammed Obaid and both are very nice prospects moving forward. Yourtimeisnow has plenty of natural pace as well as a big heart and this was a really gutsy display off the front end. She holds an entry in the Rockfel Stakes and I don’t see why she wouldn’t stay the trip, so that would look the next logical port of call given she is now a Group 3 winner.

San Donato has always worked like a good colt and I think this was an above-average race for a Thursday afternoon. We will see how the handicapper reacts to this performance before making a plan for him.”
