The son of Champs Elysees continued a fine week for owner Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum, who has also experienced success with To Dibba and Nezwaah, by securing a length and a half defeat of Regicide in the hands of Harry Bentley.

A Wolverhampton maiden winner on debut last season, Wadigor blew apart a competitive Newmarket handicap in late October, but a subsequent 15lb rise did little to curtail his progression as he travelled smoothly in mid-division before readily asserting inside the final furlong.

Although this was a competitive race for a midweek fixture at Kempton, loftier targets now await this upwardly-mobile four-year-old, with the Duke Of Edinburgh Handicap at Royal Ascot a potential next port of call.

Roger said: “Wadigor is a lovely individual who has done everything right so far. He quickened up well off a steady pace here and conceded plenty of weight to a useful field. I thought Harry gave him a well-judged, intelligent ride and this was the perfect seasonal reappearance.

“We don’t know how good Wadigor could be, and he will hopefully be contesting stakes races before long, but the Duke Of Edinburgh Handicap at Royal Ascot might be a good target for him.”
