The son of Oasis Dream, owned by HRH Sultan Ahmad Shah, hadn't won for over two years but has been a grand servant to the yard with placed efforts in a Prince of Wales Stakes' and two Coral Eclipses.

He was dropping back to a mile and running on the all-weather for the first time but he was suited to the fast gallop and came with a late run under Neil Callan.

Neil was keen to let Sri Putra find his feet at the rear of field and he travelled strongly throughout.

He switched him wide coming into the straight and he picked up well under hands and heels, getting up close home, just a nose ahead of fellow fast-finisher Saamidd.

Roger said: "He's a good horse. He doesn't win very often so it's nice to see him win today.

"He would have come here for a racecourse gallop if this meeting hadn't been on as the ground would have been too soft for him at Ascot.

"He's probably now going to go to Italy a week on Sunday for the Premio della Repubblica at Capannelle."

Sri Putra (far side) works on racecourse side under regular rider Paul Dell  this spring.
