While Jack Mitchell brought UAE Queen with a withering late run to get up in the shadows of the Sandown winning post and land the 1m fillies’ handicap, Andrea Atzeni merely had to point Zabeel Prince in the right direction to record an imperious success over his five rivals in the 1m handicap at Yarmouth.

A strapping chestnut son of Lope De Vega, Zabeel Prince was a facile winner of a Nottingham maiden in June and he secured his second win in three starts with this three and a half-length success, travelling sweetly in behind long-time leader London before pulling out and scooting clear inside the final furlong.

A 325,000 guineas yearling, Zabeel Prince is a half-brother to dual Group 2 winner Puissance De Lune, while his three-year-old sister, Princess De Lune, is set to make her second start in the Listed Stand Cup at Newbury on Friday for Roger Charlton.

Roger said: “Zabeel Prince has not been the easiest to train, but his homework has been good throughout and he is a talented individual. He enjoys some cut in the ground and this is his trip – he will be an even nicer prospect next year.”

Stable companion UAE Queen is similarly well bred being out of Lancashire Oaks winner Pongee, making her a half-sister to Listed Fairway Stakes winner Pinzolo, and she recorded her second career success when getting the better of the Hughie Morrison-trained Finale by half a length.

The result looked unlucky for most of the final furlong, but the filly showed a fine attitude to arrive with one late, last lunge between horses under a strong ride by Jack.

Roger said: “UAE Queen is a tough, gutsy filly who saw this trip out very well. Her attitude will continue to stand her in good stead moving forward.”

Last but by no means least, Equitation continued on his upward curve when making a successful transition to handicap company in the sprint affair that ended the Yarmouth card.

Owned by a diverse and loyal group of partners who comprise The Equitation Partnership, the son of Equiano won a Doncaster maiden in good style last month and he made light of an opening mark of 77 when accounting for Stanhope by three-quarters of a length under Andrea.

Roger said: “Equitation has really flourished over the last couple of months and he has built himself a progressive profile. There is no reason why he shouldn’t continue to improve.”
