Fresh from a double in the yellow and black spots at Yarmouth on Tuesday evening, Andrea Atzeni added another victory to his productive week when guiding the son of Dubawi to a two and a half-length victory over Mr Tyrell in what proved a disappointing turnout for a £10,000 added prize.

A half-sister to G1 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Chinese White being out of the high-class Sadler’s Wells mare Chiang Mai, Daira Prince appreciated this return to better ground having broken his maiden at Yarmouth in June before succumbing in testing conditions back at the seaside venue earlier this month.

Ryan Moore set a pedestrian early gallop on the eventual second as little changed amongst the four runners throughout the first six furlongs of the race.

While Daira Prince took a little time to become balanced as the tempo increased, Andrea always looked to be in control and Daira Prince lengthened away in comfortable fashion inside the final half furlong to confirm himself as a progressive individual.

Roger said: “Daira Prince couldn’t quicken on the soft ground at Yarmouth last time out but he’s enjoyed this better surface and won well in the end. This wasn’t much of a race on paper, but he’s done it nicely and is versatile in terms of trip. He should continue to go the right way.”
