Carlburg draft pass through HIT sale

Thu 31 Oct 2019

A total of 23 horses have moved on to new homes from Carlburg having gone under the hammer at Tattersalls this week.

The full list is:

FLAVIUS TITUS (5yo G) - 35,000Gns
Race Record: 13-4-3-2
OR: 97

Flavius won two cl2 handicaps over 6f at Newmarket this season, also finishing a good third over the same C&D in between. He's still a lightly-rasced type for his age and goes to Jedd O'Keefe.

HOWMAN (4yo G) - 22,000Gns
RR: 7-2-1-1
OR: 81

Sea The Stars gelding Howman is from a very smart family, being a half-brother to Lillie Langtry, dam of the high-class Minding. He won two races for the yard last season over 9f, also finishing second on his reappearance at Newcastle this term. He is also a lightly-raced type having had just the seven starts.

LAUGH A MINUTE (4yo G) - 100,000Gns
RR: 15-2-3-4
OR: 100

The joint-most expensive of our consignment, Laugh A Minute unfortunately signed off from Carlburg with a couple of below-par efforts in handicaps having started the season in promising fashion. A G3 place in the 6f Chipchase at Newcastle was the second time he'd finished in the frame in a G3, and he leaves the yard on a mark he can certainly be competitive off when things drop right.

BARDO CONTIGUO (3yo G) - 30,000Gns
RR: 5-1-1-0
OR: 73 (Turf) 76 (AW)

Yet another with very little mileage, Lope De Vega gelding Bardo Contiguo was a winner on his handicap debut at Ayr in September having overcome plenty of trouble in running. Chelmsford didn't really suit him well last time and he joins his new connections with the potential to rate higher.

BORANA (3yo G) - 10,000Gns

Borana didn't make the track at Carlburg. He possesses a fine pedigree and will hopefully have success with his new owner.

ELAMIRR (3yo G) - 12,000Gns
RR: 6-1-0-1
OR: 80 (AW) 77 (Turf)

Elamirr improved nicely with each run as a two-year-old and into the first run of his three-year-old career, with all four of those runs coming on the all-weather. Unfortunately his two runs on turf (both on fast ground) didn't maintain the progressive profile, but this son of 1000 Guineas winner Ameerat remains with potential for his new connections.

MONSIEUR NOIR (3yo C) - 75,000Gns
RR: 8-1-2-0
OR: 83

Monsieur Noir was very popular when it came to being viewed pre-sale, and his purchase price came as no surprise off the back of that. He was a consistent type this season but the feeling is there is more to come from him. He heads to Qatar and he should do well.

NABBEYL (3yo C) - 7,000Gns
RR: 6-0-2-2
OR: 74

A well-bred type out of a G1 winner, Nabbeyl's best piece of form came when he was just run down by the now 90-rated Sucellus at Wolverhampton last winter. He hasn't flourished in handicaps since but remains lightly-raced enough to find his niche.

(3yo G) - 35,000Gns
RR: 8-1-2-3
OR: 92

A winner over an extended mile as a two-year-old, Three Comets was also placed in the Listed Silver Tankard at Pontefract that year but didn't really deliver on that promise in his three-year-old season. A close third in a cl2 handicap at Beverley off his current mark does however signal that he is capable of being very competitive off this mark when the wind is blowing in the right direction! He joins Luke Comer over the Irish Sea.

CLAN ROYALE (2yo G) - 50,000Gns
RR: 5-1-1-1
OR: 86

Clan Royale looked a very promising recruit on his Ascot debut, and although he's not quite progressed as expected he did win a competitive cl3 novice at York over 5.5f. He travelled very well back over the same C&D in soft ground on his most recent start and was purchased by former champion trainer in Qatar Gassim Mohammad Ghazali.

SPREADSHEET (2yo C) - 100,000Gns
RR: 3-0-2-1
OR: 85

It's quite difficult looking at the 0 in Spreadsheet's win column in his race record! A six-figure purchase by Alex Elliott this week, we're not quite sure how he leaves us as a maiden. A horse who could make up into a smart handicapper at least.

JUST MY TYPE (3yo F) - 17,000Gns
RR: 6-0-1-1
OR: 74

This filly was named after our legendary secretary Jim Hiner, but was unfortunately unable to reach the same level on the track as Jim maintains in the office. She joins Richard O'Brien as a maiden with a mark of 74, her best run having been a close 2nd in an 8f handicap at Haydock on fast ground.

NESPOLA (3yo F) - 10,000Gns
RR: 2-0-0-0
OR: -

Nespola failed to fire in two runs for the yard this spring. She has a nice pedigree and hopefully new connections will find the key to her.

NARYNKOL (4yo G) - 27,000Gns
RR: 5-0-3-1
OR: 84

Narynkol is a very unexposed 4yo who got racing plenty early enough when turned over in a maiden on his most recent start. He has form win the book with some very smart horses and being so lightly-raced he could do better still- he leaves to join Denis Hogan on what is a fair handicap mark.

A HUNDRED ECHOES (3yo G) - 7,000Gns
RR: 6-0-0-1
OR: 52

A Hundred Echoes hasn't shown too much in his six runs thus far, although his most recent effort was his best, coming over a new trip of 8f.

JALEEL (3yo G) - 27,000Gns
RR: 11-2-1-2
OR: 84

Jaleel leaves Carlburg as a winner of two of his 11 races, and was placed in another three. He struck up a useful partnership with Jack Mitchell, who rode him both times he was succesful.

REVOLUTIONISE (3yo G) - 38,000Gns
RR: 11-2-1-2
OR: 80

Revolutionise leaves the yard with an identical record to Jaleel and is a similar type who was at his best when held up with a pace to aim at. He won at Kempton and Windsor this season and could've added at least one more victory to his tally had things fallen just slightly better for him. He leaves on a career-high mark.

TAKUMI (3yo G) - 85,000Gns
RR: 9-1-3-2
OR: 83

Takumi heads to Australia as the winner of one of his nine career starts for the yard. That victory came over 10f on his handicap debut at Goodwood, and from a starting mark of 73 he reached as high as 85 thanks to three consecutive second place finishes over 10f. He could be one to be well-suited by Australian racing.

POLARIS BOUND (2yo G) - 11,000Gns

Polaris Bound is from the family of G1 Phoenix Stakes winner Alfred Nobel, but didn't make the track at Carlburg.

MANORAH (3yo F) - 46,000Gns
RR: 9-2-1-1
OR: 78

Manorah won a novice as a 2yo at Kempton on her second start, and again on her handicap debut over 10f at Nottingham in May. She beat subsequent Sandringham winner Thanks Be that day, but then ran into a revitalised Lady Of Shalott at Newmarket next time and was unable to build on that Nottingham win despite remaining a consisitent sort.

ATMOSPHERIC (2yo F) - 12,000Gns

Atmospheric did all of her racing for Clive Cox and didn't see the track during her brief spell at Carlburg.

CINDY BEAR (2yo F) - 8,500Gns
RR: 3-0-0-0
OR: 63

Cindy Bear showed plenty of promise at home in the early part of her career but unfortunately couldn't translate that to the racetrack. She joins her new connections with a mark of 63 after three novice runs.

(3yo G) - 35,000Gns
RR: 1-1-0-0

Ejtilaab was sold as part of the Shadwell draft but was trained by Roger on his only start. That one racecourse appearance was a winning one and Ian Williams may have got himself a bargain at 35,000Gns!

We would like to wish the best of luck to all new connections of the above horses.
