The son of Galileo was third at Nottingham on his only start last season and stepped up on that effort to win with minimal fuss.

He raced a little freely during the early stages of the race but was soon settled in a nice rhythm under Neil Callan at the head of affairs.

He gradually quickened the tempo up the straight and soon had is rivals under pressure. With two furlongs to go Cameron Highland was clear and Callan pushed him out under hands and heels to record an eight-length victory.

Roger said: “He had been working nicely this spring and it was good to see him win like that. We shall see what the handicapper gives him before deciding where he will run next.”
