Chestnut colt by Hot Streak / Never In (Elusive City). Purchased at the Tattersalls October Book 2 Yearling Sale for 200,000gns. This colt is from the first crop of Hot Steak, winner of the G3 Temple Stakes & placed in the G1 King's Stand Stakes at three having won the G3 Cornwallis Stakes as a two-year-old, with all three of those performances coming over the minimum trip. The colt's dam is a half-sister to dual Listed-placed Colour of Love, and further back in the pedigree are the sires Footstepsinthesand, Pedro The Great & Power, as well as Europe's champion 2yo filly in 2000 Superstar Leo.

Qaaddim made his debut over 6f at Kempton in June. He was held up in rear, but made good late progress to finish fourth, only beaten a length and a quarter. He was little too keen in the early stages on his second start on the turf at Doncaster, but he stayed on well to be beaten only 1 1/2 lengths into fifth. His third outing came at Newmarket in early August where he travelled well for a long way before weakening inside the final furlong. On his nursery handicap debut at Goodwood he made good late headway to claim second close home and he ran another good race in a nursery at Salisbury, keeping on well over 7f to finished third, before breaking his duck at the sixth time of asking when coming with a strong run down the outer over a mile at Lingfield. The ground found him out badly on his most recent start on ground officially described as soft but quickly changed to heavy. Despite plenty of speed in the pedigree he looks like he's going to stay a good bit further than a mile as a three-year-old.
