Fifth Position has progressed with racing having won his second start at Nottingham. He went on to earn black type when finishing third in the Cocked Hat Stakes (Listed) at Goodwood and he ran a solid race to finish fifth, not beaten far, in the Gala Stakes (Listed) at Sandown on his next start. He stepped up into Group company at Glorious Goodwood and acquited himself well, finishing fifth beaten just over 4 lengths. He lined up in the Cambridgeshire on his next start where he made good headway with 3f to run, but failed to pick up with the principals, eventually finishing 8/30.
