Chesnut gelding by Shamardal / Reem Three (Mark Of Esteem). Homebred. Cape Byron is out of a Listed-placed daughter of Mark Of Esteem in Reem Three. He is a half-brother to 102-rated winner Naqshabban and G1 Prix Jean Romanet winner Ajman Princess, trained by Roger.

Cape Byron won a warm Newmarket maiden on his second start as a juvenile before making a striking reappearance in classfied company at Ascot in September 2017. He then finished third in the Prix Le Fabuleux (Listed) at Chantilly at the back end of his three-year-old campaign. In 2018, Cape Byron has stepped out at three of the big festival meetings, producing good performances and none more so than at Glorious Goodwood where he was only beaten a length in the Golden Mile Handicap. On his 2019 seasonal reappearance he proved what a seven furlong specialist he is by winning the highly competitive Victoria Cup at Ascot, which was a well-deserved victory for a very consistent horse.
